Alternate View
Daniel Phill's colorful abstracts seemingly explode with movement, drawing the viewer in with their vibrant palette and lyrical energy. Working in the tradition of Abstract Expressionism, Phill's paintings are a play of gesture, form and color; a collage of emotions in paint. Phill states, "I am interested in the balance of biomorphic shapes with unexpected colors...I create through a rhythm that is organic and unpremeditated. There is an intuitive, spontaneous use of shape, texture and color that is eventually grounded through a more controlled and ordered completion." Originally from Washington state, Phill attended the renowned San Francisco Art Institute and Stanford University, studying with California Bay Area legends such as Oliviera, Lobdell, and Jefferson. His inspiration is derived from daily life, popular culture, and even dreams. His vivid paintings are represented in numerous public and private collections and his work may be viewed in exhibitions across the country.
