"After years of childhood training in traditional art, Sondra Wampler's artistic direction was forever changed at age sixteen when she was given the retired family camera for her personal use. She went on to complete the Commercial Photography program at Santa Monica College. After pursuing a career in advertising photography she returned eventually to fine art and has been heavily influenced by the modern painters as well as early masters of photography. In her black and white photographs Sondra is sensitive particularly to the nuance of natural and studio lighting on objects. The natural elements and objects she brings into her studio are portrayed as both delicate and powerful. Wampler continues to explore new themes in her work and is currently working with her photographer husband Timothy on a book project. They live with their dogs in the mountains above Malibu, CA."
