Aleah Koury's beautiful and complex pastel floral works are based on traditional landscape theory. Foreground, middle ground and background layers of pastel are laid down on a mixed media foundation that often includes enamel, gold leafing and oil paint. Koury's intricate process creates a rich depth to every piece he makes. While much of his work draws inspiration from his California garden and extensive orchards that he cultivates, Koury's uninhibited sensuality of color is the true subject of his work whether found in the beauty of the natural world or the poetry of imagination.
